Michelle Plater writes emotionally immersive fiction about romance, survival, connection, and the quiet power of reclaiming your voice.

Her debut novel, Smoke and Mirrors, blends slow-burn romance with psychological depth, exploring what it means to love again after trauma, and what it takes to be truly seen. Her Christmas novella, Famously Festive, followed in 2025, and three more books are on the way, including her first non-fiction title.

She draws inspiration from real moments, stolen observations, and the "what ifs" that linger long after they should. Much of her writing happens in airports, on planes, or in half-empty cafés, always with a playlist on and a coffee nearby.

Michelle has spent her career helping people find their voice and tell their story, and it shapes how she approaches character, emotion and truth on the page. She's a firm believer that it all comes down to resonance, and saying something real.

When she's not writing, she's usually planning her next adventure, crying over a really good book, or rewatching True Romance for the hundredth time.
